Take a Wild Guess

If you’re in the market for a new superpower in 2026, might we suggest trying your hand at superforecasting?

Superforecasters are people who have an unusual ability to predict future events. They consistently outperform experts in many fields. Bigelow Laboratory’s Tandy Center for Ocean Forecasting is giving folks a chance to try their hand at this extraordinary skill by predicting 12 events generally connected to the environment and climate in Maine.

From tufted puffin sightings, right whale calf births, and loon counts (yay!) to storms, natural disasters, and deer tick booms (yuck!), this year’s Superforecasting Challenge spans the gamut of good, bad, ugly, and downright adorable.
