We had a packed house last week for SRS John Burns’ Café Sci talk on the extraordinary life hidden in the ocean’s midwater — one of Earth’s largest but least explored habitats.
John is leading a team of engineers and scientists developing cutting-edge imaging and catch-and-release tech to allow researchers to study the delicate creatures that live there in new detail. He shared stories from his recent expedition with Schmidt Ocean Institute using these advances to help discover 31 new species.
A huge thank you to John for sharing this work, and to everyone who joined us to celebrate the mysteries and marvels of the midwater.
