In this month’s edition of the Community Round-up, we are delighted to shine a spotlight on a fellow Bigelowian: our dedicated Education Coordinator Evan Henerberry!
In addition to sharing bright cheer and enthusiasm with his colleagues every day, Evan keeps many of our on-site education programs running smoothly. He also leads public tours and stewards our residence hall bookings, among other responsibilities.
This time of year, Evan frequently travels to local events (such as the Family Harvest Day and Green Jobs Fair) to represent the laboratory, sharing our bold science with the community. He is occasionally accompanied by a planktonic co-star or two!
Thank you for all that you do, Evan: we appreciate you, your passion for education, and your commitment to Bigelow Laboratory! 💙

PLANKTON AND PUMPKINS
Evan (right) and docent Paul Sheehan represented Bigelow Laboratory at the Boothbay Railway Village Museum’s Family Harvest Day on October 3. They shared information about our science and encouraged festivalgoers to try plankton races. The activity is a fun way to model the daily migration of zooplankton in the ocean.

ALL’S FAIR IN LOVE AND WATER
Zooplankton also made special guest appearances when Evan traveled to the Green Jobs Fair hosted by Piscataquis County Soil & Water Conservation District, Maine TREE, the Appalachian Mountain Club, and Rural Aspirations Project on October 6. In addition to sharing details about our education programs, Evan and this plush copepod were joined on-screen by a microscopic zooplankton.
