If you thought plankton were just a food source for larger marine animals, we’ve got to break some tough news to you.
This Thursday, we invite you to take a seat at Footbridge Brewery for the next Ocean on Tap to learn more about these tiny organisms and the big impact they have on our daily lives.
Zachary Wagner, a PhD student at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, will shed some light on the multitude of roles that plankton — the versatile and accomplished mini-Meryl Streeps at the base of the ocean’s food web — play in marine ecosystems.
Ocean on Tap is an informal, ocean-centric speaker series organized by researchers from Bigelow Laboratory and hosted by Footbridge Brewery in Boothbay Harbor. Our goal is to bring the community together over the fascinating world of the ocean. At these events, speakers will share their corner of expertise in the ocean, and attendees are encouraged to ask questions.
