Happy STEM Day! Today, Bigelow Laboratory is proud to celebrate science, technology, engineering, and math.
Take a second to think about the first time you became mesmerized by science. Now, multiply that excitement by 13 and you’ll understand why our campus was buzzing last week!

We hosted a baker’s dozen of students from Boothbay Region Elementary School who got to meet real-life scientists for the first time. Research Scientist Reyn Yoshioka and Postdoctoral Fellow Alaina Weinheimer introduced these starry-eyed young folk to the wonders of ocean science, sharing photos and stories from their own experiences.
They passed around shells and a virus stuffed animal, and the two Bigelowians answered questions from the very eager audience.
Thanks to Reyn and Alaina for taking the time to inspire a new generation of curious minds. Without a doubt: you two are top of the class!
